2010 MINI Paceman Concept - Rear ViewPaceman the concept presented in Detroit, seems too close to the series not to see the day. It would make a perfect three-door variation of the Countryman. How could you not see a competitor of the Range Rover Evoque? Range Rover Evoque, Mini Countryman, the same struggle. Both carry an English name without being truly and target the same customers and urban chic. The similarity does not end there: both high on legs, they hope to split into three and five door versions. If the cause is already gained for the Bishop, the Countryman has yet to unfold completely: while the five-door has already joined the concessions, the three-door looks very promising as a concept at Detroit.
Indeed, the Paceman seems to have a concept in name only. Based on the platform of the Countryman, he remains very close in terms of dimensions. Length peaks at 4.11 m (4.10 m for the Countryman), width of 1.79 m is identical to that of his twin, while the Paceman, 1.54 m high, lost 2 cm in height compared to the Countryman family roofline plunging less. Moreover, the Countryman resumed 211 hp 1.6 engine of the Mini John Cooper Works. Of course, many elements from the Countryman: front (of the Cooper S version), AWD, dashboard ... Suffice to say that BMW would have no difficulty in launching the production of Paceman.
As it should, this concept has a few tricks for style shine in the spotlight at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Note and door handles covered with brown leather, matching the hatch closed gasoline original but unfortunately impossible to industrialize. Finally, the roof line to "cap" seems to have become the common denominator of all the Mini since the concepts Roadster and Coupe seen at Frankfurt in 2009. In this case, the trick is no shortage of salt, since it is strangely reminiscent of the Range Rover evokes. Finally, the butt of Paceman seems a little wider than the Countryman, because of plump wings and horizontal unpublished lights. Inside, no surprise. Mini has so far released no pictures but the press release says it all. Countryman's central rail will be the heart of the four individual seats upholstered in leather clear. Here as elsewhere, is simply a Paceman Countryman three doors.
